About
Who keeps the count, and how.
The Open Count is an independent publication that tracks U.S. politics and the economy with public data. It endorses no candidate or party and takes no money from campaigns, parties or political committees.
- What we publishThree trackers (Affordability, Economy, Seat Check), a weekly email and short videos built from the same figures.
- Where the numbers come fromGovernment agencies, official records and published surveys. Each tracker's Method section lists its sources, formulas and anything not yet loaded or re-verified.
- CorrectionsIf a figure is wrong, email hello@theopencount.com with the page and the source. Confirmed errors are fixed and the fix is noted on the page.
- Not adviceNothing here is financial, legal or voting advice. Race outlooks summarize published ratings and market prices; they are not forecasts of our own.
- PrivacyNo accounts, no advertising and no tracking across other sites. The newsletter sign-up is handled by Substack. Full details are on the Privacy page.
